Pair of Vintage Figural Andirons, English, Fire Dog, Fireplace Rests, Art Deco
Our Stock # 25959
This is a pair of vintage figural andirons. An English, cast iron fire dog in the manner of the Carron Foundry, dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1930.
- Fascinating Victorian revival andirons, with good proportion and visual appeal
- Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
- Good consistent graphite finish, with gentle wear to the figure's head
- Cast in the manner of the Carron Foundry originals, a Scottish ironworks established in 1759
- Charming figures presented in bust form on raised supports with cast fire tool motif
- Distinctive front legs presented as nautical representations of fish, with scales and fins
- Long rear support leg with bowed form, offering a generous basket rest of 40cm (15.75'') depth
This is a delightful pair of figural andirons, the bust form being redolent of awards statues and the proportion being well suited to larger hearths. Delivered ready for the fireplace.
