This is a large vintage figural mantle clock. A French, onyx and spelter timepiece with matched garnitures, dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1930.

• Attractive gilt finish to the face presents bright tonality
• Name to the dial for a Horloger-Bijoutier called F. Mary, in the Normandy town of Carentan
• Replete with winding key, the clock offers a chime function
• Two train movement untested, but observed to be operable with winding

With the maker's mark for Menneville et Rochard to the base, this superb piece is crafted by the French sculptor Irenee Rochard, and the mysterious Manneville. Educated guesses believe this to be a pseudonym for the exiled Italian sculptural artist, Ugo Cipriani.
