This is a small antique sugar casting spoon. A Dutch, 930 silver sifter with London import hallmarks, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1890.
- A fascinating imported spoon, with appealing detail and form
- Displays a desirable aged patina, gently time-worn with careful use
- Dutch 930 silver presents bright tonality, with minimal tarnishing
- Fine, pierced fretwork to the scoop, for casting sugar across desserts
- Short handle accentuated with a decorative male cameo
- Scoop engraved with a sitting female, in traditional dress
- 930 mark typical of Dutch silver, representing a 93% purity by weight
- London import marks added to test the purity of the item upon entry to Britain
- Hosts the importers mark ETB, for Edwin Thompson Bryant
- The hallmarks are the Lion Passant silver mark, and the date letter R for 1892
- The second letter is the 'F' in an oval to signify that it was Foreign made
- The final emblem is the Leopard, London's official town mark
