This is an antique gentleman's stick stand. An English, gilt metal reception hall umbrella rack or loop, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1860.
- Magnificent stand, with fascinating serpentine motif and brilliant colour
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good, lightly time worn order
- Finished in warm gilt hues over cast iron, with light weathering revealing a painted finish
- Substantial form, weighing a reassuring 4.218kg (9.29 lb)
- Arranged as four stick loops of 7cm (2.75'') in diameter
- Shaped handle standing above the whole, with plume of feathers detail
- Each of the stick loops presents and individual snake in a tied knot form
- Usefully wide drip tray accentuated with foliate and lobed patterns
- Unmarked as such, but in the manner of Coalbrookdale
