This is an antique ladies correspondence box. An Irish, walnut and brass writing slope case, dating to the William IV, circa 1833. A desirable, quality example with fine hidden storage and a beautifully appointed interior.

• Crafted from select walnut, offering fine grain interest and warm caramel hues
• Casework skilfully edged in brass for a tactile, attractive contrast in fine taste
• Personalised brass plaque to the lid, as gifted to a Miss J.A. Railey in September 1833
• Also engraved with Austin, Maker - likely George Austin of Dublin, a 19th century writing slope specialist

• Beautifully aged, tooled and embossed bottle green skivers, arranged in two folding sections
• Document storage compartments situated beneath each lift-up writing surface

• Case held securely with a fine Bramah lock, engraved with the WR cypher for William IV
• Lock in working order, with the key present, as is the internal lock for the upper skiver lid
