This is an antique coffer. An English, carved oak three panel linen chest or bay window seat, dating to the early Georgian period, circa 1720.
- Fascinating early Georgian coffer with great proportion and finish
- Displays a desirable aged patina, in good original order throughout
- Select oaks stocks present fine grain interest and warm caramel hues
- Ideal for use within a bay window as a distinctive seat base
- Wide top opens upon the original pin hinges with a support rest to the reverse
- Generous internal storage useful for blankets, cushions or other storage
- Fascia arranged as a trio of field panels, framed with relief carved patterns
- Replete with cast iron lock escutcheon — untested, key absent
- The whole raised upon a quartet of robust, square section legs
This is a delightful antique coffer, being a charming early Georgian example with fine craftsmanship and light ageing from gentle use. As useful today as it was 300 years ago. Solid joints and construction, delivered ready for the home.
