This is a vintage cased Mah Jong set. A Chinese, carved teak gaming box, dating to the late 20th century, circa 1970.

Strikingly decorative box with 144-piece game inside
Displays a desirable aged patina throughout
Teak case enthusiastically carved to each surface
Shows fine grain interest and light russet hues

Carved lid presents a superb sailing scene, with foliate and pagoda detail
Further carvings depict sail boats listing in a strong wind
Includes four sets of game pieces in period trays
Replete with book of game rules and counter
