This is an antique, Scottish, solid shield back hall chair dating to c.1880.
A dramatic piece highly polished and full of interest, this chair is raised on carved, cabriole front legs featuring scrolls and foliate adornment resting upon pad feet with swept rear legs.
The solid, shaped panel seat with serpentine front is softened with an edge moulding above a plain seat rail and provides a solid, stable seat.
The elaborate back panel frames a blind cartouche with pinched with 'C' Scrolls at the waist, swags of foliate detail and crowned with a hooded fan.
The highly polished 'wet look' finish is a delight on the solid walnut frame. Delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
