Victorian Rosewood Pedestal Desk, c.1870
Our Stock # LFA-1218
This is an English, Victorian, antique, breakfront, rosewood pedestal writing desk dating to c.1870.
Raised on a continuous plinth base with rounded corners that continue up through the banks of drawers and into the moulded edge of the writing surface, the frieze drawers are delineated by an attractive bead detail at the height of the top of the kneehole.
The grain detail is magnificent and a real feature of this desk which offers two flanks of four drawers and a central wide drawer, each mahogany lined and dressed with the original brass pulls and keyhole linings. The brass locks are in place but untested as the keys are absent.
The mulberry, lamb skiver, writing surface is delightfully aged and tooled with the main detail in gold.
A quality piece ideal for the library, study or hall with a neat back making centre room placement an option. Delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
