This is a Victorian antique pier cabinet dating to c.1880.
A fine example of it's kind with a desirable patina to the English walnut, this cabinet is raised on a stepped plinth with elongated bun feet, ebonised to match the finish to the top surface.
The glazed door is complete with working lock and key decorated with an elaborate cast brass escutcheon. The outer frame being decorated in light and dark stringing to match the cabinet design.
The cabinet is decorated with classical, foliate, apple marquetry above and to the sides. A decorative bead surmounts the door and is terminated either side with ormolu swags of scrolls and foliage.
The newly baized interior features twin shelves perfect for displaying items or storing books.
A fine cabinet in good antique condition. Solid joints and construction. Delivered waxed & polished ready for the home.
