Victorian Octagonal, Oak Dining Table, c.1850
Our Stock # 10.1294
This is a Victorian, antique dining table dating to c.1850.
A superior quality piece of immense interest, this table is very well made from generous stocks; Beautifully carved 5" wide lions paw feet, 7" carved baluster columns with stout cross stretcher featuring a 9" tall central pineapple and a thick frieze stock beneath solid and stable table top.
The top displays attractive medullary rays and good grain detail in the warm honey tones and is edged on each side with fanned, gadrooned carvings mirrored around a central motif and terminated at the corners by matching motifs. The fluted apron is slightly recessed and in good proportion.
The superbly carved, massive, lion's hairy paw feet provide a stable base for the 'X' frame stretcher that supports the bulbous, carved, baluster column supports featuring reeded caps and foiliate carvings.
A stunning table presented waxed, polished and ready for the home.
