Victorian Mahogany Bureau de Dame, c.1900
Our Stock # LFA-1363
This is an antique bureau de dame dating to the turn of the century c.1900.
Raised on cabriole legs, bracketed at the knee and terminating in splayed tri-form feet, this attractive fall front bureau is in fine order and displays good grain detail to the golden mahogany finish.
The apron features a useful frieze drawer with gentle serpentine front, lined with a wonderful pippy birch veneer.
The face of the fall is dressed with a brass escutcheon that sweeps round into a pull above an ovular, beaded trace that outlines a blind panel.
Dropping the front on the support hinging (no need for pull out lopers), a desk at a useful height and depth is revealed with hanging cubbies and drawers that track the angle of the fall. The pair of drawers are dressed with brass pulls and flank a pierced, bracketed central cubby.
The top is galleried with brass pillars and bars that finish the look of this attractive writing desk that has solid joints and construction.
Delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
