This is an early Victorian carriage footrest dating to c.1840.
Raised on charming, squat cabriole legs, this stool has been made from exceptionally generous mahogany stock offering good strength and stability as well as a delightful deep colour and patina. The serpentine skirt is well carved featuring scrolls and foliate detail.
Traditionally upholstered the webbing is strong and in good order whilst the top has been recovered in a good quality, striped, velour fabric trimmed with a rich purple brocade.
A fabulous piece of furniture, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home or re-covering if desired.
