Victorian Burr Walnut Antique Stretcher Table, c.1850
Our Stock # LFA-1351
This is an antique, Victorian stretcher table dating to c.1850.
The book matched, quartered veneer, burr walnut top is a real delight, full of colour, grain interest and with a desirable aged patina with a chamfered moulded edge. Twin boxwood string inlays form an inner border with foliate garlands in a classical form to four corners.
Beneath, a shallow frieze repeats the grain interest with the table top raised on tapered, ring turned columns united by a turned stretcher with central ball. Cabriole legs pick up on the classical overtones again with beautifully carved acanthus leaves to the knees sweeping down to scrolled toes above the original ceramic castors.
A fine example with solid joints and a good finish, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
