This is a small antique tanner's chair. An English, ash and elm spindle back countryhouse craftsman's seat, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.
- Delightfully diminutive work seat
- Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Ash and elm show fine grain interest throughout
- Rich caramel hues beam beneath a wax polish finish
- Spindle back of square proportion with three turned balusters
- Seat base with gently rolled edges, meeting cylindrical knees over shaped front apron
- Tapering spindle legs to front with dashing turned stretcher, standing upon pad feet
- Pair of cylindrical feet at rear, united by sets of stretcher bars
This is a charming antique tanner's chair, of compact proportion and attractive figuring to the stocks of ash and elm. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready to enjoy.
