This is a set of 4 vintage nesting boxes. A Japanese, lacquered quartet of small storage boxes with handpainted decor, dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1930.

Fascinating quartet, with a neatly nesting form
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
Rich russet hues to the lacquered finish
Each of the inner trays fitting neatly within the larger outer box
Domed lids each host a swooping, hand-applied dragon
