This is a pair of vintage podstakannik cups. A Russian, silver plated USSR tea glass holder, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1950. 

• Delightful tea glass holders with fascinating, space-related motif
• Displaying a desirably aged patina and in good order
• Silver plated glass holders present a bright polished appearance
• Later glass tumblers in good order - can be replaced to individual taste with a maximum 60mm diameter glass (2.25")

• Relief scene to front depicts Mother Russia reaching out to Sputnik, with the Kremlin in the background
• Striking wheat sheaf relief detail issuing outwards from the central scene
• Distinctive handles accentuated with chased foliate pattern
• Engraved to base with Cyrillic maker's mark - ЮМ3МЕТ, u/p70K
