This is a pair of antique side chairs. An English, walnut reception hall seat, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1840.

Wonderful early Victorian craftsmanship for the reception hall
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select walnut shows fine grain interest and deep caramel hues
Graced with a quality foliate silk cotton fabric in serviceable condition

Sinuous top rail adorned with a carved flower posy over a delightfully pinched waist
Buckle back and demi-lune lower rail accentuated with foliate motif
Traditionally stuffed cushions with golden brocade trim to the lower edge
Patterned textile coverings with appealing colour set against a cream ground

Serpentine cabriole front legs with bold, beaded appearance
Each raised upon an elongated and splayed pad foot
Splayed rear legs with turned-out square section toes

This is a delightful pair of antique side chairs with distinctive buckle backs and traditionally stuffed cushions. Ready to enjoy, whilst also offering an opportunity to re-cover to individual taste. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
