This is a large vintage carved chest. An Oriental, camphorwood and brass linen trunk with relief decor, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1940.

• Profusely carved and of substantial proportion
• Displaying a desirable aged patina and in very good order
• Camphorwood shows fine grain interest throughout

• Used throughout, the carved relief scenes featuring figures, buildings and trees
• Naturally finished, clean interior offers light caramel hues and the desirable aroma typical of camphorwood
• Useful drawer sat within the lower fascia, with recessed pulls
  
  
• Stout lid held securely by large brass clasp, engraved with foliate detail
• Border detail to each end, framing the striking relief scenes
• Recessed carved handles taking the form of a humpback bridge over a river
• Raised prominently upon four bun feet with engraved detail
