This is a large antique buffet. An English, walnut server or sideboard, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1870.
- Classic buffet with ornate decoration
- Displays a desirable aged patina throughout
- Select walnut shows fine grain interest
- Rich caramel hues beam beneath the wax polish finish
- Upper platform with prominent, shaped back stand, accentuated with foliate carving
- Pair of inset drawers to the fascia, with wide drawer boxes and decorative inset banding
- Each drawer dressed with an ornate pair of drop handles over decorated back plates
- Fabulous turned balusters supporting the generous gallery to the middle
- Two cabinets situated within the base, with field panel doors
- Door secured with a brass lock escutcheon — in working order, key present
- The buffet stands upon a continuous, stout plinth base
This is a superb, large antique buffet from the Victorian period. Quality carved details and nicely presented walnut stocks make for a highly appealing server. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
