This is a Japanese antique chest, a lacquered pine trunk or blanket box dating to the late 19th century, circa 1900.
- A fine example displaying good colour and finish
- The front, locking panel displaying geometric form
- Side panels decorated with foliage and birds in a loose hand
- All framed in bands of solid colour
- The pine in good order throughout with a clean interior
- Solid brass lock escutcheon and drop handle
- Pin key to move internal slide bolt locking the lid
- Solid brass drop carry handles to either end
A very attractive antique chest in good order. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
