Edwardian Antique Music Cabinet, Lidstone London c.1910
Our Stock # LFA-1364
This is an antique music cabinet dating to Edwardian England c.1910.
Raised on slender tapered legs united by a lower tier shelf, this cabinet offers five drop front drawers and a single cupboard divided in two with four panel glazed door fitted with the original brass lock, untested as key is absent, with an internal depth of 31cm (12").
The mahogany displays good consistent colour and is cross-banded with walnut inlay to the top and drawer fronts which are dressed with bronzed ring pulls on pressed back plates. The drawer fronts drop in typical fashion on brass hinges with a scallop to the drawer bottom making it easy to grasp the sheets within.
Made by the Lidstone Cabinet Company Limited (as listed in the London Gazette in the early years of the 20th century), the original label is affixed to the inside of the uppermost drawer and reads 'Lidstone Music Cabinet London Patent'.
A fine cabinet with solid joints, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
