Early Georgian English Oak Coffer, c.1725

This is an antique Early Georgian coffer dating to the beginning of the 18th century.
A fine example, carcassed in robust, English oak with pegged joints, the inch and a quarter stiles extending to form the feet, this coffer displays medullary rays beneath a waxed finish.
The four plank top displays wonderfully with rich, dark hues of russet browns. A quadruple field panel front complimented by double panelled ends, are surmounted by a later carved frieze in stylised foliate, reciprocating form. The stiles and muntins fluted.
The lid lifts on iron strap hinges offering generous storage within.
Superb period charm and in good antique order, this piece is delivered waxed and polished ready for the home.
