This is an antique writing slope. An English, oak desk accessory or office writer's box, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1900.

• Displays a desirable aged patina

• Caramel hues with wisps of medullary rays

• Enclosed slope replete with brass shield escutcheon and inset, working lock and key
• Original, gold tooled skiver in good order
• Glass ink well with brass lid resides within its own compartment
• Pen tray and angled quill slope – tray lifts to reveal secret compartment

• Larger skiver insert retained by small brass clasp – lifting to reveal document compartment
• The smaller insert lifting by small leather pull tab with further storage beneath
• Insert dressed with paper maker's label; 'Fletcher's Antique Furniture and the Foudroyant Co.'
• Label certifies the timber is repurposed from Lord Nelson's Flagship the Foudroyant
