This is an antique touring hat box. A French, leather and brass travel case, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.
- Superb bombe hat box with fine French travel appeal
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order
- Rich caramel tanned leather nicely patinated, commensurate with age
- Accentuated with pinned brass borders to case edges grasp the tapering frame
- Dressed with brass locking clasp and a pair of long leather straps — key absent
- Shaped, flat leather handle to lid aids carriage
- Fascinating remnants of antique travel labels to each side
- Interior presented with a crimson lid finish, bearing a maker's label
- Label reads 'Maison Gosse - Prix-Fine Invariable - Boulevart Saint-Denis, No.15'
- Enthusiastic foliate pattern to box sides with a newspaper remnant covering the base
