This is an antique tea cabinet. An English, oak spice or apothecary case, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1800.
- Pleasingly heavy Georgian piece
- Displays a desirable aged patina
- Dark English oak with fine grain interest
- Wisps of medullary rays shine through the wax polish finish
- Field panel front door with carved patera
- Unusual left-hand opening
- Dressed with a shaped brass escutcheon — lock absent
- The door secured by an iron hook and eye clasp
- A suite of nine drawers, the lowest of which being a wide, single drawer
- Each drawer finished with a small brass pull
- Raised upon a continuous plinth base
This is a charming and unusual antique tea cabinet. From the dark English oak, to the carved patera and reassuring weight, this is a fine example of Georgian craftsmanship. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
