This is an antique surveyor's level. An English, brass theodolite or desk ornament by William Stanley complete with mahogany carry box, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1910.

• Prismatic surveying compass situated beneath primary tube
• Choice of two eye-pieces revealing a fine metal reticule when removed
