Antique Side Table, Victorian Burr Walnut, c1870
Our Stock # LFA-1485
This is an antique, Victorian side table dating to the late 19th century c.1870.
A superior example, the burr walnut grain detail is exquisitely displayed in the quarter veneered, book-matched top. A carved moulded edge in a contrasting darker tone features a reciprocating foliate detail around the perimeter above the shallow, plain frieze.
Riding upon the original, white, ceramic castors, the four cabriole legs display carved foliate detail to the knees with typical scrolled toes and are united by a turned stretcher with central bulb featuring carved detail.
The tapering column supports are a delight with bell detail overhanging the lower and upper shank, footed with inverted finials and richly decorated with carved foliate detail.
In very good antique condition, solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
