This is a rare antique ship's clinometer. An English, heavy brass maritime instrument by H. Hughes & Son of London, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.

• Delightful nautical instrument to indicate the pitch and roll of a ship
• Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
• Heavy brass frame presents attractive golden tones
• Large spirit level sits pleasingly within the centre of the frame

• Annotated from the centreline of 0 degrees outwards to 45 degrees plus and minus
• Quality vernier adjustment dial sits to the right hand side of the level
• Engraved model name reads 'Col. C.P. Evelyn's Patented Ships' Clinometer'

• Colonel Evelyn was a member of the Royal Thames Yacht Club in the late 19th century
• Further engraved with H. Hughes & Son, Ltd. 59 Fenchurch Street, London
• Trio of mounting points for ease of fastening to the bulkhead or wall

This is a superb and rare antique ship's clinometer, with copious maritime interest. In working order and presenting a clear appearance. As good to observe today as it was over a hundred years ago. Delivered polished and ready to enjoy.
