The full title is; Sheridan Improved - A General Pronouncing and Explanatory Dictionary of the English Language; For the use of Schools, Foreigners Learning English etc. In which it has been attempted to improve on the plan of Mr. Sheridan.

Based on the work of Anglo-Irish actor and educator Thomas Sheridan (1719 - 1788), this 9th edition of the Sheridan Dictionary is edited by many and authored by Stephen Jones (1763 - 1827) a Georgian period editor.
