This is an antique robe chest. A Japanese, papered storage trunk with oriental Art Deco taste, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1920.
- Wonderfully hand-painted, decorative storage box with superb detail
- Displays a desirable aged patina and pleasingly clean throughout
- Papered over wood frame, with generous proportion
- Some light weathering to the lid, the base being remarkably fresh in appearance
- Hand decorated with courtyard scenes of several well-dressed figures
- Thick lid held securely by a circular brass clasp, accentuated with engraved detail
- Admirably clean cobalt blue interior ideal for storing prized textiles or blankets
- Dressed with a pair of brass drop handles for ease of carriage
