This is an antique pier glass mirror. An English, gilt gesso mirror in Classical taste, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820.
- Bold frame with overt Classical influence
- Displays a desirable aged patina
- Gilt Gesso in good order with rich hues
- Later mirror plate in good condition with minimal foxing
- Broad pilasters to each side with tiered cornice above
- Wide, inset frieze depicts a mother and children against a white painted ground
- Finished with hand-applied, bright golden tones to frieze
- Lion head masks to the capitol picked out with further gold paint work
- Acanthus bulbs adorn the terminus of each pilaster with an adjoined pair to the centres
- Dressed with a small eye loop for wall mounting
