This is an antique library table, Victorian Gothic revival. Scottish oak with carved decoration, this side table dates to the late 19th century, circa 1880.
- A handsome library table displaying good colour and grain interest
- Profusely carved throughout with typical Victorian excess
- In good proportion with a desirable aged patina
- The top displays well with wisps of medullary rays and a decorative edge moulding
- The shaped frieze offering a disguised drawer to one side
- Each corner guarded by magnificent lion head masks
- Inverted umbral and ball finials beneath scrolled brackets
- Raised on stout turned pillars over carved, scrolled legs and feet
- Well executed, bulbous carvings to the upper leg
- The legs united by a robust, carved stretcher
