This is an antique Lancashire rocking chair. An English, ash and elm spindle back seat, dating to the Georgian period and later, circa 1800.
- Wonderful country-house appeal
- Displays a desirable aged patina throughout
- Ash and elm offer fine grain interest beneath a wax polish finish
- Dark russet hues abound with polished embers of dark caramel
- Comfortable rush seats in very good original order
- Tall, distinctive open spindle back with 15 turned balusters
- Shaped upper rail with three bowed lower rails
- Serpentine arms raised upon turned supports with bulb forms
- Later rocking feet with stretchers uniting each leg
