This is an antique fireplace bellows. An English, oak and leather fire stoking tool, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1880. Wonderfully preserved, it combines practical fire-lighting function with superb decorative presence in the Gothic Revival taste.

• Crafted from oak with fine grain interest and rich caramel hues
• Brown, tanned leather squeezebox in intact, working order
• Gives a healthy puff of air with every squeeze to enliven embers
• Gothic Revival styling with a spade-shaped fascia
• Relief carved quarterfoil motif and foliate medallion to the front panel
  
  
• Brass blow hole tip displays golden tones with gentle weathering
• Replete with breather hole, neatly set into the reverse fascia
• Decorated throughout with charming brass stud accents
• Leather hanging loop and enclosing strap to the handle edge
