This is an antique elbow chair. An English, Victorian, oak and leather carver armchair dating to the mid-19th century, circa 1870.

Attractive carved oak displaying darkness of tone, quality grain and fine colour
Of quality craftsmanship with attractive proportions
Beautifully crafted displaying a desirable aged patina
Solidly jointed and robust – ideal for daily use

Delightfully carved back-splat rising to a pierced, shaped crest rail
Strong supportive arms with hand-carved detailing
Traditionally upholstered, leather stuff-over seat pad with studded brass finish

Generous in size and offering a useful 51cm (20.1") seat height
Established on a well-braced box and 'H' stretcher for stability
The baluster turned fore stretcher displaying good colouration
