This is an antique cigar box. An English, oak smoker's chest, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900. 

• Beautifully appointed case, with fine figuring and colour
• Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
• Striking oak shows fine grain interest and an abundance of medullary rays
• Rich caramel hues beam beneath a quality wax polish finish

• Graced with a counter-weighted mechanism, the drawer operates the sliding upper lid
• Dressed with numerous shaped brass mounts presenting subtle golden tones
• Unmarked brass shield sits above a working lock escutcheon with drop handle — key present

• Upper lid reveals a compartment for a number of favourite cigars
• Drawer presents a central silver plated ash tray with a pair of smaller compartments
• The whole standing upon a plinth base with a protective baize to the underside

This is an appealing antique cigar box, with fine colour and figured oak. Delivered waxed, polished and ready to grace a desk or side table.
