This is an antique carved hall chair. A Scottish, oak decorative elbow seat, dating to the mid Victorian period, circa 1860.
- Of superb carved appearance and excellent proportion
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Select oak presents fine grain interest throughout
- Rich russet hues beam beneath a wax polish finish
- Scrolled leaf upper rail with serpentine wing form
- Tall carved back rest accentuated with ornate foliate motif
- Serpentine arms terminate in striking lion's head knuckles
- Each arm set upon a turned and cupped baluster support
- Comfortable, flat seat squab at a useful height of 48.5cm (19")
- Attractive sash apron with carved relief details
- Standing upon a pair of flared square section feet to the front
- Square rear legs unite with a H-stretcher rail
