This is an antique campaign writing box. An English, mahogany and brass correspondence case, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820.
- Beautifully crafted in the Campaign manner, with superb colour and figuring
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Select stocks present fine grain interest and rich caramel hues
- Brass presents lightly aged golden tones throughout
- Decorative inlaid brass to the lid surrounds the inset carry handle
- Bound to each corner with a quartet of brass brackets
- Fascinating diamond lozenge lock escutcheon in brass — untested, key absent
- Light blue silk cotton textile lining dresses the lid interior
- Removable tray insert dressed with a distinctive faux crocodile pad
- Naturally finished lower compartment in an appealing, clean order
