This is an antique campaign mess table. An English, walnut oval folding table with Naval influence, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900. A superb example of portable craftsmanship, rich with maritime heritage and character.

• Fine Victorian campaign table in walnut, with warm caramel hues and appealing grain
• Presents in good antique order, with lightly timeworn charm commensurate with age
• Striking oval top, centred with a relief carved medallion of exceptional detail
  
  
• Medallion bears Sir Walter Raleigh’s family motto, encircling a knight’s helmet
• Amore et Virtute translates to English as 'By Love and Valour'
• Raleigh (1552-1618) is to this day associated with the Royal Navy, with his eponymous training base in Cornwall, UK
