This is an antique bureau in mahogany. An English, late Georgian desk featuring secret compartments, dating to late 18th century, circa 1780.
- Quality craftsmanship in polished mahogany
- Good consistent colour and grain interest throughout
- Generous and comfortable working height to the fitted desk interior
- Drawers arranged: 2 over 3, graduated, cock beaded with hand-cut dovetails
- Dressed with drop handles over pierced brass back-plates
- Brass keyhole linings and locks, key absent
- The locking fall, complete with key, opens to reveal fitted interior desk space
- The central cupboard with secret slides to either side with half column decoration
- Flanked by three cubbies over a suite of four shaped drawers with brass handles
- Raised on ogee bracket feet so typical of the late Georgian era
