This is an antique boat builder's chest. An English, oak and brass craftsman's tool trunk, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.
- Instantly beguiling craftsman's chest with fine proportion and finish
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in very good order
- Select oak shows fine grain interest and light caramel hues
- Striking brass caps to each corner a fascinating addition
- The shallow chamfered top opens to near 90-degrees on internal hinges, against a rear rest
- Superb, clean interior, the base in pine with a bright biscuit coloration
- Dressed with an inset brass lock — untested, key absent
- Stout brass drop handles to each side over decorative shaped backplates
This is an excellent antique boat builder's chest, with wonderful colour and a delightful use of brass hardware throughout. A treat for storage or in the lounge as a distinctive coffee table. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
