20th Century Japanese Decorative Screen - London Fine Antiques

20th Century Japanese Decorative Screen

Our Stock # LFA-1291

This is a twentieth century, Japanese screen or room divider.

Presented as a pair of double panel screens, these floor standing screens can also be used as wall panels or room dividers.

The ebonised frames have apertures top and bottom with the upper, slim opening dressed with decorative, pierced brass plates.

The lacquered, painted foil panels are predominantly gold featuring red crowned cranes sitting amongst tree and blossom detail.

The red crowned crane is known as Tancho in Japanese after it's red spot. It symbolically represents the bird of happiness and long life as it lives in fable for a 1,000 years.
