This is an antique roll-over butter dish. An English, silver plated breakfast tureen or server, dating to the Victorian period and later, circa 1870. 

• Striking dome topped serving dish with later ladle - an admirable centrepiece
• Displays a desirable aged patina and in very good order
• Decades of sympathetic polishing offers a beautifully reflective quality to the silver plate
• Engraved with a superb heraldic 'P' monogram to front of lid

• Fascinating dome lid retracts smoothly, nesting around itself - distinctive lobe pull aids access
• Cut-out for the ladle handle set within the trailing edge of the lid when closed
• Removable butter tray with attractive pierced diamond shaped fretwork, sat upon a drip tray below

• Ideal for keeping butter, sauces, heating peas or other vegetables

• Pair of ornate handles with a delightfully gadrooned finish
• Standing upon a slender quartet of dashing cabriole legs with beaded pattern
• Maker's emblem to the underside of the dish and butter tray in the form of an urn
• Later, Edwardian ladle engraved with a swan emblem, the Army and Navy Co-operative maker's mark to reverse
