This is an antique jardiniere on stand. An English, ceramic decorative planter with ornamental column, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880. 

• Rich in colour and with classical and Renaissance overtones
• Displaying a desirable aged patina - one fine firing crack to rim observed under close inspection
• White ceramic base with light blue wash beneath a quality glaze
• Gilt flourishes to the rim and handles add an attractive contrast

• Of bulb form, the serpentine foliate rim sits above the generously sized planter
• Bouquets of detailed flowers adorn the fascia in a palette of pink hues
• Ornate handles with scrolling forms terminate in expressive leaf motif
• Mark to base reads 'Athens' likely the pattern mark of Davenport, Staffordshire
