This is a vintage shipwright's tool chest. An English, cedar and pine craftsman's work trunk, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1940.

• Wonderful maritime charm, offering great storage or as a distinctive coffee table
• Displays a desirable aged patina with light service wear, commensurate with age
• Ebonised pine exterior offers deep black hues, with stout steel straps to corners
• Clean, bright cedar interior beams warm caramel hues upon opening

• Fascinating, inset One Shilling coin to the lid, dated to 1947
• Deep lid opens upwards, coming to rest upon a rear brace
• Removable tool tray insert, sliding freely to aid access to the lower trunk space
• Additional rotating tool rests adorn the inside of the lid

• Engraved to the side and beneath the lid edge with 'Plymouth Docks, 1943'
• Stencilled fascia reads B.R. Tucker, Shipwright - M.C.D. 22604
• Dressed with a diamond-shape lock escutcheon — in working order, key present
• Superb, heavy gauge rope handles set within demi-lune keepers to either side
