This is an antique court cabinet. An English, oak sideboard or credenza in Jacobean revival taste, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1890. 

• Impressive cabinet with fine carved details
• Displaying a desirable aged patina
• Select oak shows fine grain interest with delightful wisps of medullary rays
• Rich caramel and russet hues beam beneath the wax polish finish

• Upper valance hosts a wide opening drawer, decorated with a scrolled frieze pattern
• Pair of acanthus bulb supports with dashing petal carvings to each side
• The lower arrangement of four cabinet doors intersected by two wide drawers at the mid-point
• Upper doors dressed with a pair of shield lock escutcheons over working locks — keys present

• Overall carved appearance and solid proportions key to the Victorian fascination with the Jacobean taste
• Pleasingly unusual carved male figure located between the upper cabinet doors
• Copious carved panels with shell carvings, foliate patera et al adding further visual interest
