This is a small antique carved coffer. An English, oak blanket box with Gothic revival taste, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.
- Exuberant display of carved craftsmanship, with appealing proportion
- Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Oak stocks present deep chestnut hues throughout
- Nicely figured with fine grain interest
- Gadrooned edge to the lid, with a bold diamond lozenge to the centre
- Front and sides adorned with carved cameo portraits in relief
- Accentuated with a host of Gothic motif to great effect
