Our Stock # 18.7394
This is a vintage decorative ammonite on plinth. An English, fossilised geological ornament on an oak base, dating to the late 20th century and much, much earlier.
Ammonites evolved in the ocean between 240,000,000 - 65,000,000 years ago and faced extinction alongside the dinosaurs. Ammonite comes from the Greek god Ammon, and was an ancient relative of modern cephalopods such as squid, nautilus and cuttlefish.

- Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Hewn index fossil with superb shell detail
- Secondary ornamental imprint adds visual balance and textural detail
- Presented upon a weathered oak base with fine grain interest and wisps of medullary rays
This is a fascinating vintage decorative ammonite, with millions of years of natural history and late 20th century presentation. Sure to appeal to the geologist or collector of natural artefacts. Delivered polished and ready to display.
