This is a vintage carved chest. An Oriental, camphorwood decorative trunk in Art Deco taste, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1940.
- Superb Oriental craftsmanship

- Camphorwood stocks show deep caramel hues and fine grain interest
- Stout lid dressed with scallop clasp and decorated backing plate
- Each panel decorated with relief carved scenes
- Grand scene to front depicts an Emperor and his staff within a courtyard
- Incidental carvings decorate the fascia with foliate pattern
- Interior resplendent in natural camphor with candle tray
- Raised upon shaped bracket feet to each corner
